PAUT

An innovative non-destructive inspection method called phased array ultrasound testing (PAUT) makes use of ultrasonic probes that may pulse individual components at various rates. In comparison to traditional ultrasonics, PAUT has greater detection probabilities, is quicker and more reliable, and offers 2D or 3D images in addition to providing a permanent record of the examination through the data acquired.

TOFD

Time of Flight Diffraction is an Ultrasonic technology that was initially created to increase the accuracy of fault sizes discovered by other methods. Major faults were overlooked as a result of inadequate application and  a general lack of understanding by people operating the equipment in the early implementations of the approach, which moved from applications that just relied on sizing problems to applications that relied on TOFD as a principle detection mechanism.
