Uma Industrial Engineering Services Pvt. Ltd. provides both ACFM testing courses Level 1 and Level 2.
The electromagnetic inspection method known as “Alternating Current Field Measurement”, or “ACFM” testing, uses an alternating current to probe a component’s surface to find surface-breaking cracks.
Advanced mathematical procedures instantly convert the return signal when a crack disrupts the electromagnetic field, alerting the operator to the presence of a flaw. When compared to other NDT techniques, immediate fault sizing and recording is a significant advantage. This technique is effective at both finding and sizing (length and depth) metal flaws.
The method can be used to inspect through paint and coatings because it doesn’t require electrical contact with the surface. The method is frequently applied to the subsea inspection of offshore platforms as well as to weld and thread inspection.
The benefits of both Alternating Current Potential Drop (ACPD) and Eddy Current Testing (ECT) are combined in this NDT method.
The advantages of the ACFM testing method are as follows:-
